The shutters have come down on certain sections of Gate Avenue in DIFC as part of a huge redevelopment. Zone B of the popular shopping and dining section of the financial district has been closed off for construction. This includes the Zone B parking lot too.
In an Instagram post, the mall management recently announced that Zone B’s stores will be replaced with a new mixed-use development. We can look forward to fresh hospitality and commercial outlets as well as residences dotting Gate Avenue in the future. Hoardings by Eden House by H&H Development, confirm this.
Although construction in Zone B will begin soon, officials have assured people that Gate Avenue’s redevelopment won’t hamper access to the rest of the destination. Parking will still be available in Zones C & D to make up for the loss of spots in Zone B. And some outlets from Zone B have found new homes in Zone D and C. Other outlets such as D’lish have relocated to Al Quoz. Ramen restaurant Daikan has closed too.
An official statement from DIFC mentions that “ further development of the district’s Zone B will complement” the offerings currently in place at Gate Avenue.
In case you’re wondering where exactly Zone B is in Gate Avenue, then it’s the same area that hosted the SALT Camp last year. Gate Avenue is known for its stunning Grand Mosque, alfresco eateries and a South Market food hall. You’ll still be able to access these venues despite the closure of Zone B.
