Once the work day comes to a close, DIFC knows to play hard. Fun is a serious business in Dubai’s financial district which is known for its fabulous restaurants, art galleries and retail outlets. This summer, the power suits are shed for party hats with a Summer Carnival at DIFC.
Until June 11, the Gate Avenue area at DIFC transforms into an indoor funfair with games, entertainment and food stalls. On weekends, the destination doubles up on the activities, making it a perfect family day out.
Zone D at Gate Avenue will have skill-based games run by Game Nation, a mini carousel for the kids to ride, and a cotton candy machine spinning out flossy confections. From Friday to Sunday, the Summer Carnival at DIFC amps up the fun with cirque show, character meet-and-greet and roaming entertainment.
Jugglers, contortionists and acrobats will entertain kids. Meanwhile, adults can try their hand at ball toss, can smash and other carnival games. Giant plush toys and teddy bears are up for grabs. Musicians dressed in costumes playing brass bands instruments also parade around to add some drumrolls to the festivities.
After playing hard at the Summer Carnival, you’re sure to get hungry. When that happens, make a beeline for South Market’s gourmet food stalls. This stylish food hall at Gate Avenue is home to 15 different restaurants and kitchens as well as artisanal food kiosks. You can take your pick of mouth-watering international cuisines at outlets like Pinza, Katsu and Co, Earth Kitchen and Burritos Beyond Borders.
Summer Carnival show timings
The carousel and games stalls are open all week from 10am-10pm. Weekend shows, however, have special timings. Make a note that the Cirque show kicks off at 5pm and the character meet-and-greets at 6pm. The roaming entertainment is rolled out at 7:30pm.
