Wifi in Taxis Coming to Dubai Soon

We can all agree that there’s nothing more annoying than running out of data when you’re still on a taxi ride somewhere, especially if you’re in a foreign city. Looks like our troubles might finally be behind us as Dubai is close to introducing the answer to all our problems.

As of now, there are 10,800 cans in Dubai and soon enough there will be wi-fi available in every single one of them. No need to worry about your trip cutting off before you reach somewhere, the security of having that wifi connection is all we need to feel comfortable.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) finally sealed a deal last week with du to start the process of adding wifi capabilities to each taxi (and yes the service will be free to use). The estimated time of completion is around a year, so we’ve got a little more to wait. This initiative comes with the goal of making Dubai the smartest city in the world, which, it’s not far off from becoming!
