intridThe UAE Fuel Price Committee announced prices for petrol and diesel in the country for January and the prices remain the exact same as December 2024. This news will come as a relief to motorists as other new charges like the hike in Salik toll prices and RTA parking prices will be introduced from January 1, 2025.
This stability in cost applies across all petrol variants of Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus.
Continuing from last month, the price of Super 98 petrol will be AED 2.61 per litre. Special 95 will cost you AED 2.50 and E-Plus fuel’s price will be AED 2.43 per litre.
In November, Super 98 cost AED 2.74 per litre, Special 95 cost AED 2.63 per litre and E-Plus 91 cost AED 2.55 per litre.
What about the cost of diesel?
Prices of diesel too will stay steady costing only Dh2.68 per litre in January as well.
So, if you haven’t topped up on petrol yet, don’t worry about rushing to the petrol pump in the hopes of saving a few dirhams ahead of a price hike.
What affects petrol price in the UAE?
In 2015, the UAE liberalised fuel prices so that petrol prices in the country reflect the global oil rates and market fluctuations. The UAE Ministry of Energy, which sets these prices, aims to reduce the country’s carbon emissions, preserve natural resources and encourage residents to use public transport.
Fuel prices fluctuated massively throughout 2023 and hit the maximum rate on October 2023 at 3.44 per litre. However, it was in July 2022 that UAE petrol prices recorded a historic high, surging at AED 4.63 per litre.
