After a consistent reduction in fuel prices for the last three months, motorists in the UAE can expect to pay a tad more this month. The UAE Fuel Price Committee has announced prices for petrol and diesel in the country for February 2024 and there’s a marginal increase.
This spike in cost applies across all petrol variants of Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus. There’ll be a 0.5 fils rise in prices of Super 98 and Special 95 petrol, and E-Plus.
How much that tallies up to in dirhams is as follows: starting February 1, the price of Super 98 petrol will be Dh2.88 per litre. Special 95 will cost you Dh2.76 and E-Plus fuel’s price will be Dh2.69 per litre.
Is diesel included in the petrol price hike?
Prices of diesel, however, have been trimmed down by 0.1 fils. Starting today, diesel will cost Dh2.99 per litre instead of the January diesel rates of AED 3 per litre.
So, if you haven’t topped up on petrol yet, do so before the clock strikes 12 and prices reset. You’ll be tanking up on fuel and savings!
What affects petrol prices in the UAE?
In 2015, the UAE liberalised fuel prices so that petrol prices in the country reflect the global oil rates and market fluctuations. The UAE Ministry of Energy to reduce the country’s carbon emissions, preserve natural resources and encourage residents to use public transport.
Fuel prices fluctuated massively throughout 2023 and hit the maximum rate on October 2023 at 3.44 per litre. However, it was in July 2022 that UAE petrol prices recorded a historic high, surging at AED 4.63 per litre.
