We’ve got another superlative structure coming our way, Dubaiites! H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai unveiled Therme Dubai, the world’s tallest wellness building.
Therme Dubai – botanical garden, waterfalls, hot springs
This 500,000 sq ft oasis of wellness and tranquillity will be built bang in the centre of Dubai – inside Zabeel Park and will host up to 1.7 million visitors yearly. The Dubai Frame will have some competition in the skyline around old Dubai as this unique wellness structure aims to be a soaring 100m tower.
It’s no run-off-the-mill skyscraper either. Therme Dubai’s renderings show gardens stacked over each other like islands and 18-metre waterfalls cascading over them. Also in the mix is an interactive park and the world’s largest botanical garden featuring 200 plant species.
If all that’s making your head spin, wait until we tell you about the luxurious spa treatments and therapies this AED 2 billion hotel will have.
Terrace pools with restorative and healing mineral and thermal waters, multi-sensory saunas and luxurious spa treatments based on bathing traditions like Roman and Turkish baths, Japanese hot springs and Turkish hammams, and Nordic saunas will all be available here.
While this one-of-a-kind space is slated to be a haven of serenity and rejuvenation during the day, at night things will liven up. A Michelin-star restaurant, 15 waterslides and experiential art installations will transform this project into a cultural hub too.
Cutting-edge sustainable engineering
Another key feature is the building’s sustainable engineering which will recycle 90% of the water used in its thermal pools. It will also meet 80% of its fresh air and cooling needs through clean energy sources.
These eco-friendly elements are typical of resorts by Therme Group, a global wellness company pioneering innovative thermal spa wellness centres. They’ve currently got well-being resorts in Romania and Germany with others popping up in Scotland, Manchester, Canada and South Korea.
This is also in line with the objectives of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan to create healthy environments and communities for both residents and visitors. Although this ambitious project’s construction only kicks off in 2026, it’s targeting completion by 2028. This means you could be wading in a therapeutic thermal pool in Dubai without ever having to board a flight!
