Princesses can stay in their ivory towers this Halloween. The villainesses from all our favourite childhood movies are prowling the streets this Halloween and have wound up at the Paramount Hotel in Downtown Dubai. They’re terrifyingly good, you guys. To our fellow 90s kids, yes… We’ve lived long enough to see ourselves root for the villains. At least the flamboyant, slightly demented but wonderfully vicious versions of Disney’s bad girls you’ll witness in The Villainesses Show.
This interactive show by W.E.R.K productions is a riot and takes place at Paramount’s chic Melrose Bar and Lounge every weekend throughout October. Ursula the Sea-Witch, Maleficent, and Cruella de Ville find themselves battling it out with songs to discover who’s the evillest of them all in this fun two-hour show. There’s no magic mirror to give them the answer but the audience’s applause will reflect who’s nastiness takes the cake. Besides song and dance, the three antiheroines will figure out who scores highest on the evil scale through comedy and interactive competitions, so you’ll be cackling through the night. Unless your voice is stolen by one of the bad ladies like a certain animated mermaid, if you catch our drift.
Instead of being a poor unfortunate soul, audiences get to go over to the dark side and cheer on characters that used to have them hide under the covers in fear as kids. Expect plenty of naughty treats to munch on at the show in the form of bar bites, free-flowing popcorn and nuts, and three sinfully delicious cocktails which are all included in the price of your tickets.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite villains from animated films. Why be a damsel in distress when you can be a damned dame wearing some of the most glamorous outfits ever, right? Although heads-up, it’ll be hard to outshine the hair-and-makeup of performing artists Monique Hebrard as Maleficent, Lucy Gregory as Ursula, and Laura Rudchenco as Cruella. They adopt the edgy personalities of these wicked characters so well that audiences will be left both spooked and spellbound. Being bad never looked so good!
