If you’ve lived in Dubai before you might have noticed that once a year, Kite Beach gets a little makeover which immediately acts as a popular insta spot…
Flag Day is the national campaign that was initiated in 2013 by the Sheikh of Dubai as a way to celebrate all of the UAE’s accomplishments, whether they happened in the past, present or will happen in the near future. If you’re thinking that the flags are being put up slightly prematurely, then you’re absolutely right. Although the day is usually celebrated on November 3rd, this year it’s been moved two days earlier to November 1st.
The sad news is that the day is not recognized as a public holiday, but that still doesn’t make it any less of an important day. Apart from the many flags at Kite Beach, you’ll see the UAE colours everywhere from around various part of the city, to adorned on government departments, to shopping malls and even people’s homes (you can join in on the day too if you want!).
