If you swing by the McDonald’s outlet in JLT this weekend and squint because of how pixelated everything looks, it’s not your eyes. The fast food restaurant has given this particular branch a makeover to celebrate the theatrical release of A Minecraft Movie – the new adventure comedy based on the Minecraft video games.
Minecraft Movie inspired games and meals
The immersive dining experience features colourful 3D block decor both indoors and the exterior facade, including the drive-thru, to recreate Minecraft’s world. You’ll sit on chairs resembling grass blocks, surrounded by walls covered with landscapes straight out of the game. Even the McDonald’s logo gets a pixel glow-up, but it doesn’t stop at that. Diners can play interactive games like finishing Minecraft puzzles in under a minute, stacking blocks on a Jenga-like tower and meet, greet and snap selfies with life-sized characters like Grimace.
Food undoubtedly is a part of this collab – A Minecraft Movie Meal is built from limited items like Spicy Big Tasty, Spicy Magma Sauce, and the A Minecraft Movie McFlurry. Each meal also includes one of six unique collectibles. Because why should only Happy Meals come with toys, right? Speaking of, there’s a Minecraft edition of the Happy Meal too, and kids (or adults, we don’t judge) can collect toys inspired by the film’s characters or choose a Minecraft storybook.
For games looking to power up their Minecraft avatars, don’t forget to scan the code on cards that come with meals – it unlocks exclusive skins in the Minecraft Marketplace. It’s a limited-time makeover only running until May 4, so hurry to get your loot meals, and of course, the chance to experience what it would feel like to step inside the world’s best-selling video game and its cubic wonderland of possibilities.
