Nothing’s impossible in Dubai, not even running in sub-zero temperatures at the height of summer. Ski Dubai’s popular DXB Snow Run is annual proof of that statement and the 2024 edition kicks off on May 19.
Breaking into cold sweat takes on a whole new meaning with this chilly race – you’ll have to swap running shorts for toasty thermal tights and puffer vests as this sporting even involves sprinting (mostly trudging) through the snowy slopes of Ski Dubai at – 4°Celsius. Brrr!
Where can I sign up for DXB Snow Run?
This frigidly fabulous run is the result of the indoor ski park at Mall of the Emirates and the Dubai Sports Council teaming up to keep residents in fighting fit shape during the summer months, while also fighting the heat.
Registrations are now open for interested runners, so freeze your spots by booking here before registrations close on May 16. You can take your pick from the standard 3km race, which will see you cut three loops of Ski Dubai, or if you’re a seasoned runner and the cold never bothered you anyway, then the advanced 5km race is right up your alley.
Tickets cost AED 120 per person for the 3km run and AED 150 per person for the 5km run. Age is no bar at the Snow Run – it’s open to everyone between the ages of 13 and 70.
Getting cold feet? Here’s an incentive – every runner that makes it to the frosty finish line will take home a commemorative DXB Snow Run medal as a reward for their perseverance (and thick skin, literally).
The 5km race starts at 6am and the 3km race will follow shortly at 6:40am. Here’s the coolest aspect of this run (besides all the snow) – every runner will be timed individually. Which means the only person you compete with is yourself!
