Despite our arid weather and vast desert dunes, Dubai boasts some of the world’s best golf courses. Not only is the grass greener on our putting greens, but they’re also the world’s most searched golf courses. Particularly, the Emirates Golf Club, which ranks as the world’s fourth most-searched golf course.
A recent study published by golfing apparel brand Galvin Green revealed that Emirates Golf Course ranked as the 4th most popular golf course fans dreamed of putting around and playing in with 26,565 Instagram hashtags and 10,650 average monthly searches.
Two UAE golf clubs made it to the top 10
Emirates Golf Club’s fairway wasn’t the only UAE golf course to shine bright in this study. The Abu Dhabi Golf Club swung into the rankings at number 7 with 5,200 monthly searches and 8,675 Instagram hashtags.
Data from Google Keyword Planner and Instagram hashtags were the metrics used to analyse which iconic courses and golf clubs around the world drew golfers to their websites and social media accounts.
Based on those stats, American golf courses walked away with first and second places. Augusta National Golf Course located in Georgia USA topped the list with 107,119 Instagram hashtags and 54,050 average monthly search volume, while Florida’s TPC Sawgrass trailed in second place with 56,552 Instagram hashtags and 73,717 average monthly search volume.
Scotland, the birthplace of golf, clocked third place with St. Andrews Golf Course’s 5,658 Instagram hashtags and average monthly search volume of 55,317.
Emirates Golf Course is the Middle East’s first green golf course
Located in Al Thanyah, this 35-year-old golf club and its 3 world-class courses are no strangers to accolades. The prestigious club was the Middle East’s first all-green golf course when it opened in 1988 and today is an entire complex featuring fine-dining and casual restaurants, event spaces and other fitness sports and activities like swimming and tennis.
Its 18-hole championship Majlis course is home to top-level tournaments such as the European Tour’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic and has seen golf greats such as Tiger Woods tee up on the course.
Additionally, this stunning golf club is the MENA region’s only GEO Certified golfing venue making it the region’s most sustainable and eco-friendly club.
