Planning your next holiday outside the UAE just got easier by miles. Top airlines in the country – Emirates and Etihad – have joined forces with a nifty new ‘open jaw’ agreement.
Wondering what that is?
Here you go: customers of each airline can purchase a single ticket to fly out of Dubai and land in Abu Dhabi or vice versa. Let’s break that down for you with an example. If you decide to jaunt off on holiday to Bali and depart on an Emirates flight from Dubai but find out that return flights from Bali to Abu Dhabi are what’s convenient for your schedule, you can book that arrival via Etihad Airways. And this would include no extra charges and will be part of one single ticket.
That does leave your jaw open now, doesn’t it?
Tourists can benefit from this option too
Emirates Etihad’s flexible multi-city ticket option is a godsend not just for UAE residents but also visitors. Tourists can now squeeze in exploring both the emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi on a single trip without having to worry about rushing back to the city they arrived at to board the flight back home.
The two UAE carriers are the first in the region to enter this genius agreement and besides seamless inbound and outbound flights, the agreement also guarantees smooth baggage check-ins.
The MoU was signed at Arabian Travel Market by Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, and Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Operating Officer of Etihad Airways, along with Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, and Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad CEO.
Time to plan that next vacation now.
