It’s been 60 years since legendary French singer Edith Piaf passed away but her music lives on as the soundtrack to films, viral YouTube covers, and the background music to your Instagram reels. Think Paris and you instinctively start humming La Vie En Rose. Such is the timeless magic of Piaf’s voice. You can sing along to that signature song and other hits by the late singer at PIAF! Le Spectacle, a touring tribute show that’s making a pitstop at the Dubai Opera on October 22.
French actress, singer and comedienne Nathalie Lermitte will play Edith Piaf in this immersive homage that will take you on an audio-visual journey of the French singer’s life and career. Considered France’s national treasure, Piaf’s rags-to-riches life story filled with romance and tragedy is as captivating as her ballads Non-Je Ne Regrette Rien and Mon Dieu. The chanteuse’s angelic voice was discovered by a nightclub owner in Paris and was the turning point that took her off the streets of Paris and instant stardom.
A string of archival photographs and videos chronicling Edith Piaf’s live performances during her heydays will be displayed on a screen as her haunting music and dazzling personality is brought to life on stage by Nathalie Lermitte and a live band. PIAF! Le Spectacle has mesmerised over 50 cities including Paris, London and New York as part of its smash-hit world tour honouring the 60th anniversary of Piaf’s passing. Dubai-based fans get their helping of this elaborate production on October 22 at 8pm.
