A new project has been announced and it perfectly fits into Dubai’s new image of amazing street art around various parts of the city. Here’s what we know so far…
The murals are set to be painted between the Financial Centre and Emirates Towers stations, making it one of the many other places where crazy paintings are painted around random walls, just begging for a picture to be taken in front of it.
Daniel Cortez and Elio Mercado; two of the most famous and internationally recognized street artists, will take on the project and paint on the pillars of the Dubai Metro. Brand Dubai, the organization that initiated the idea of this project, have said that the various themes on the murals will represent the amazing elements of Dubai’s eclectic culture and vibe.
This project is one of the many other displays of art that the city is slowly planning to unveil around various outside spots such as bridges, tunnels, bus stops and more. It’s all apart of the goal to make Dubai an “open-air museum” of sorts, which is definitely an idea we can get behind.
Elio Mercado’s art actually already exists at Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi, he was hired to paint a mural there about 2 years ago. If you’re not aware of it, we attached a picture below to give a little insight into what we can expect from his work.
