It might be hard to believe, but Downtown Dubai has officially been around for 10 years… time really does fly, huh? To commemorate this milestone, there will be 22 culture-filled weeks of activities, installations and more. Here’s what you can expect:
If you’ve been Downtown already, then you know that this ‘party’ of sorts has already begun, with various events scheduled to take place within the upcoming weeks. For those of you who are fans of the art scene, you’ll be excited to hear that several pieces from world-renowned artists are confirmed to be on display. These include, Wings of Mexico by Jorge Marin (pictured at the top of this article), Wild Kong by Richard Orlinski and Love Me by Richard Hudson over the course of the celebration.
To give you a quick summary of each work of art: Wings of Mexico is a visual representation of hope and a tribute to Mexican culture (it’s on display now and quite hard to miss – just look for the two bronze wings shining under the sun, with Burj Khalifa right in the background). Wild Kong on the other hand is pretty much what you would expect, an ode to King Kong himself. Richard Hudson’s Love Me, is a 3D heart sculpture that’s no stranger to the Dubai Fountain area… chances are, you’ve seen it before.
Keep your eyes peeled on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard until June, because there will be tons of new things happening and best of all – its free!
