Love songs have been around for centuries, probably for as long as we were able to make sounds and music. Although there are thousands of ballads, sonnets and romanzas written about lust, longing, heartbreak and loss, we still fall for a good lovey-dovey confession of love. And since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, Candlelight is bringing classical renditions of timeless love songs to Dubai that will make anyone weak in the knees.
Whether you’re celebrating singledom, Galentine’s Day, your one and only, or plainly are a hopeless romantic, there’s nothing more enchanting than being surrounded by heartwarming melodies and a sea of twinkling candles at the Royal Lawn, Raffles The Palm. From “City of Stars” from La La Land to “Por Una Cabeza” from Scent of a Woman, these romantic love songs are set to make hearts flutter.
Candlelight: Valentine’s Day Special
The Candlelight Valentine’s Day special presents classic tales of love as featured in some of the most romantic films that have a way of tugging at the heartstrings. You’ll be transported to the Pride Lands as you hear “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” by Elton John and see Sebastian and Mia follow their passion while attempting to save their relationship as the melodies of “City of Stars” from La La Land are played by The Strings.
You’ll notice an electrifying change of ambiance as the staccato notes of the 1935 tango “Por Una Cabeza” resound in the Royal Lawn Piatti by the Beach at Raffles The Palm. Concluding the evening is “I’ll Always Love You” from The Bodyguard, an emotional take on saying goodbye to someone you still love. Combined with the warm glow of a sea of twinkling candles, these melodies make for the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year.
