Highlights of 2018: a walk down memory lane
Now that we’ve officially said good-bye to 2018 and are on the journey of our New Year’s resolutions, here’s a recap of the events, festivals and exhibitions that took place last year…

Sole DXB

From December 6th – 8th, the ultimate meet up for sneaker heads, fashion lovers and music geeks took place in Dubai’s architecturally gorgeous Design District. 2018’s theme was all about celebrating up and coming South African designers/artists within the industry, as well as other talents from around the world. Have a look at the video below featuring clips from the 2017 Sole DXB and head over to our facebook page to see the 2018 video.

Arab Fashion Week

The annual Arab Fashion Week which takes place in Dubai is actually on the list of the five most important fashions weeks in the world… just check out the Vogue Italy April 2017 edition to see for yourself. What makes this particular fashion week stand out from the rest, is that it’s the only one that features “ready-couture” collections, which means your one of the lucky few people in the world who get to see the pieces on the runway if you have an invite. Check out the video below of the Amato catwalk!

Dubai Fitness Challenge

The Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) took place from October 26th to November 24th and involved the residents of the city committing to 30 mins of daily exercise for the entire month. As part of the initiative to make Dubai one of the most active cities in the world, the challenge is highly encouraged through several free activities/events around the city to help get in those 30 minutes of exercise. Did you manage to stick to the full 30 day challenge? If you didn’t quite make it, don’t worry, there’s always this year!

Dubai Design Week

From the 12th to 17th of November, this festival was packed full of 200+ interesting exhibits, talks, film screenings, installations, workshops and much more surrounding topics within the architecture, interior/graphic design, film and media industries. The full program for the 2018 event can be found here, if you’re curious about what kinds of things you can expect from  DDW, if it sounds like something that appeals to you, make sure you check out the one happening this year.

Dubai Jazz Festival

Taking place every year, the Dubai Jazz Festival is one of the biggest music events in the city. Last year headliners included Duran Duran, John Legend and Ricky Martin…some of the most iconic names in the music industry! The 2019 headliners have already been announced and tickets are on sale, so make sure to snatch yours up before they sell out!
