Is there anything worse than showing up at the Dubai passport control and being told that you have to pay a crazy fine because your visa expired? The good news: there’s now a new rule in place that will stop us from getting any surprises before leaving the country.
The old process of extending one’s visa involved physically having to exit the UAE and then re-enter in order for the counter to go back to the start. Now, whether you’ve entered on a 1-month tourist visa or 3-month visit visa, you have the option to stay for an extra 60 days. All you have to do is apply for two respective 30-day visa extensions and pay AED 600 for each (it’s a hefty price, but trust us it’s much lower than what you’d have to pay if you violate your visa).
We can all breathe a sigh of relief, especially for those of you who work/frequent the city often and stay longer than 1-3 months.
