Dubai knows how to wow. Whether it’s the tallest building, the highest landmark sign in the world, Instagram-worthy restaurants or futuristic nightclubs, we’ve got them all. The City of Gold’s Midas Touch continues with spectacular resorts and hotels, and one of them has earned a spot in the first-ever World’s 50 Best Hotels listing. Any guesses which ultra-luxury Dubai resort made the cut?
*Drum rolls and trumpets* – it’s Atlantis The Royal. Well, no surprises there considering this hotly-anticipated 795-room resort in Palm Jumeirah had one of the world’s grandest openings in January 2023. Honestly, how many hotels can boast a performance by Beyonce at their grand reveal party?
Now, this iconic stacked Jenga blocks-style hotel with its vertical gardens, 90 swimming pools and spectacular water fountains has been ranked the world’s 44th best hotel. In fact, it’s the only hotel from the Middle East to be recognised.
Atlantis The Royal’s opulence – it boasts 17 restaurants, including a Michelin-starred Heston Blumenthal eatery – is what won it the votes of 580 hotel industry experts who formed the judging panel.
The World’s 50 Best is a series of annual lists that has been ranking restaurants and bars around the globe since 2002. This, however, is the first time hotels have been rated. The inaugural edition of World’s 50 Best Hotels was announced at a glittering London awards ceremony last week.
Hotels from a total of 35 destinations across six continents made the list, but the property that walked away with the title of World’s Best Hotel, ranking at #1, was Lake Como, Italy’s luxury boutique hotel, Passalacqua.
