Motorists in the UAE can expect to pay a tad less for petrol in June. The UAE Fuel Price Committee has announced prices for petrol and diesel in the country for June 2024 and there’s a marginal decrease.
This drop in cost applies across all petrol variants of Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus. There’ll be a 0.2 fils reduction in prices of Super 98 and Special 95 petrol, and E-Plus.
How much that tallies up to in dirhams is as follows: starting June 1, the price of Super 98 petrol will be Dh3.14 per litre. Special 95 will cost you Dh3.02 and E-Plus fuel’s price will be Dh2.95 per litre.
In May, Super 98 cost AED 3.34 per litre, Special 95 cost AED 3.22 per litre and E-Plus 91 cost AED 3.15 per litre.
Is diesel included in the petrol price hike?
Prices of diesel, however, have been trimmed down by 0.19 fils. Starting June 1, diesel will cost Dh2.88 per litre instead of the May diesel rates of AED 3.07 per litre.
So, if you haven’t topped up on petrol yet, wait until the clock strikes 12 and prices reset. You’ll be tanking up on fuel and savings!
What affects petrol prices in the UAE?
In 2015, the UAE liberalised fuel prices so that petrol prices in the country reflect the global oil rates and market fluctuations. The UAE Ministry of Energy to reduce the country’s carbon emissions, preserve natural resources and encourage residents to use public transport.
Fuel prices fluctuated massively throughout 2023 and hit the maximum rate on October 2023 at 3.44 per litre. However, it was in July 2022 that UAE petrol prices recorded a historic high, surging at AED 4.63 per litre.
