The UAE has introduced an Emergency Airport Response Plan to ensure uninterrupted operations of airports in the country due to travel disruptions caused by the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has announced that it has taken necessary steps to ensure the safety and smooth flow of passengers transiting through airports in the Emirates.
Emergency Airport Response Plan launched in response
This business continuity plan was approved immediately when Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria closed their airspace earlier this week, leading to the cancellation and delays of multiple flights to and from the UAE. These disruptions left hundreds of passengers stranded.
The ICP also stated they’ve started a streamlined system for passenger entry into airports located in the UAE. It’s wise to factor in extra time at check-in and at the security check to prevent disruptions to your journey.
What to expect if you’re travelling via UAE airports this summer
ICP has implemented several new regulatory and operational procedures to maintain the quality of service across the UAE’s airports.
Authorities have established field teams at airports in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Ain, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah. They will be available 24/7 to assist stranded passengers with accommodation, logistical services.
These teams will also coordinate and provide immediate feedback from airlines regarding flight rescheduling. Additionally, they will guide passengers with accurate and real-time updates about continuing their travel plans.
Furthermore, ICP has guaranteed that it has taken all the necessary steps to ensure the security and safety of all travellers under any conditions or emergencies. Crisis and emergency management plans are in place to guarantee all passengers arriving, departing or transiting through UAE airports will be cared for and attended to in line with the highest international standards and practices.
