Few things in life can be compared to the satisfaction of unravelling a good mystery. Instead of yelling at your TV screen while bingeing your way through true-crime documentaries or re-watching Knives Out, we’ve found you a more exciting alternative. An actual Murder Mystery experience where you can dress up, get down to hunting for clues, and step into the sets of a real Whodunit.
Paramount Hotel’s ‘Murder in the Speakeasy’ series is back and they’ve got a fascinating new homicide for you to solve every Thursday. Called ‘Murderous Starlets’, there’s a fresh crime, with crooked characters and shocking twists and turns. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the crime scene’s set in 1930s California, which means plenty of old-school Hollywood Glam.
Getting to the venue is a mystery in itself as the location’s the award-winning hidden bar, Flashback Speakeasy. Once you’ve traced your way to this secret bar that’s styled after Prohibition-era bars from the 1920s, you’ll find yourself transported to 1932, where Italian-American actor and producer Guido Corleone has been murdered. We love the nod to The Godfather.
With ruining the suspense, here’s a sneak-peek of what you’re in store for
The L.A.P.D suspects an array of disgruntled women who were part of the production of his latest movie and had a bone to pick with Guido. Is it Misty Corleone, the wife considering the killer’s always the spouse? Or could it be Italian megastar Valentina De Luca? Guido’s muse Lucille O’ Conner and actress Rose Olguin also have reasons to bump off Guido.
But… can’t the cops crack it?
They could but where’s the fun in that, dear Watson? Your job is to put on your detective hat, dig deep for your inner Hercule Poirot (or Philip Marlowe if you want to pick a chronologically accurate Private Eye and assist the L.A.P.D’s bumbling cops uncover the seedy secrets of these sparkling starlets.
In typical murder mystery-style, you’ll be entertained by live musical performances courtesy the notorious starlets, snack on bar bites (brain food to fire up the grey cells), and follow a trail of clues and hints that will lead you to the killer and turn them over to the law.
It’s a plot that has all the ingredients of a nail-biting film-noir, think Hitchock’s 1930s flick Murder! and constantly keeps thickening.
This is an engaging alternative to the usual Thursday ladies’ nights plan that keeps you and your brain on its toes by constantly guessing, occasionally dancing.
Plus you get to dress up in your best flapper dresses and suits with suspenders.
