An escape to the desert is an absolute must in Dubai, whether you’re visiting or actually living in the city. There’s plenty of options available, each providing their own unique experiences – you could camp or treat yourself to the ultimate luxury and book yourself a stay at one of the resorts we’ve listed below. Although it’s the summer season and visiting the desert doesn’t seem that appealing, you should know that many resorts offer up insane discounts that only come around during this time.
Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa
Bab Al Shams is one of those widely recognisable resort names, due to its prominence in the most common desert getaways. The style is a mix of that tranquil vibe you get from being secluded in the desert away from the city, with the added allure of luxury and 5 star hospitality. Bab Al Shams is easy enough to reach, being approximately 45 minutes away from the Dubai airport. Here you’ll not only have a relaxing stay, but also the opportunities to engage in any of the typical desert activities that you wish – from camel rides, to walks, whatever you’re interested in, chances are they’ve got it.

Desert Palm Resort and Hotel
Melia is much closer to the city centre of Dubai, normally taking around 20 minutes to reach the Desert Palm via car. They describe themselves as an urban oasis, located on a polo estate with an extremely modern design. Here you’ll find some of the best food, bars, a relaxing spa and of course a riding school which is only fitting since it’s located on a polo field.

Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa
Al Maha Resort is located in the Palm oasis, which can be found within the Desert Conservation Reserve. What makes this resort stand apart from the others is its vital role in making sure that it preserves the culture and heritage of the Bedouins. The possibility of seeing Arabian wildlife such as the Oryx or Gazelles bring in a large portion of the traffic here.

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert
The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah is located slightly to the North of Dubai in the Al Wadi Nature Reserve. Of course we all know that the Ritz-Carlton has a reputation for being extremely posh, so there’s no need for us to go on about what an amazing time you’ll spend at one of their hotels. However, obviously the added benefit of staying in this one is the incredible scenery and vibe of being at one with nature. Here you can find activities such as camel/horseback riding, archery lessons, stargazing, etc. There’s also a few villas which are modelled in a Bedouin-esque style, with private pools and stunning views of the desert.
