The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is stepping in to keep the sixers flying and the wickets falling from June 1 to Jun2 29. Over the next month, international men’s teams from 20 countries will be battling it out for world domination of this short, sweet and sizzling 20-over cricket championship held every 2 years.
Where is the Twenty20 World Cup 2024 happening?
In the United States of America! Yep, cricket’s exciting format has finally managed to nudge America into switching baseball bats for cricket bats. The USA is one of two countries hosting the T20 World Cup, the other co-hosts are the West Indies. The tournament’s first 16 matches will be played in the US across three American states – Florida, New York and Texas.
The remaining 39 matches will be split between six Caribbean nations – Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; Grenada; Guyana; Saint Lucia; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. Here is the full T20 World Cup schedule of matches.
Which countries played in the T20 World Cup?
The USA and the West Indies have secured spots in the line-up by being host countries. This will be the USA’s first-ever outing in a Cricket World Cup arena. Canada and Uganda are the two other countries making their T20 World Cup debut.
Stalwarts of cricket, synonymous with the game, such as India, Australia, England, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are playing. Neighbouring Oman is the only GCC nation to have qualified for the tournament. Other countries to make the cut are the Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, Papa New Guinea, Nepal, Namibia and Afghanistan.
When is the T20 World Cup final?
An undefeated Indian cricket team and the national cricket team of South Africa will face each other on June 29 to lift the trophy. This is India’s chance at sporting redemption after losing to Australia in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. This epic final match will take place at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados in the West Indies. The nail-biting showdown is happening at 6:30pm UAE time.
