While we might not have cherry blossoms, Dubai sure has its own cup of tea. The flame tree season (or gulmohar season) comes right before summer, with flashes of fiery red and orange hues. The trees begin to bloom in full spring in May and June, and transform the city into a place of shade and stunning views.
Although the tree (scientifically known as Delonix regia) originally came from Madagascar, it has adapted particularly well to Dubai’s climate. Several of Dubai’s older neighbourhoods and established urban areas proudly flaunt the flame trees – with over 50,000 dotting the Emirate. The wide canopy (up to 15 metres wide) and the up to five degree cooling under the shade is a huge factor for the gulmohar being etched in Dubaiians memories.
Where you can see flame trees in full bloom
Earlier this month (May 2026), Sheikh Hamdan directed the expansion of Flame Tree planting across the emirates. They distributed seedlings to residents who wished to plant them in their homes and farms.
Visitors can see the beautiful fiery red trees in Dubai on major roads, parks, promenades, streets and residential areas. There are several places to see the trees one-by-one but our editorially cherry-picked favourites are:
- Dubai Water Canal: You can find thousands of flame trees here. It is one of the best places to see the fiery blooms.
- Al Jaddaf Waterfront: A local favourite, this promenade attracts locals and photographers. Here, you can see gulmohar trees with a city skyline backdrop.
- Nad Al Sheba Cycle Park: Selected as a key distribution and planting hub, these vibrant orange-red blooming trees are all across the park.
- Expo City Dubai: For a more laidback touristy experience, the flame tree season here attracts birds, bees and pollinators. It’s the perfect place to do several things at once.
- Al Manara Street: The roundabout at the end of the street is a hidden gem to see the spectacular burst of orange blooms
- Al Warqa 1: If you prefer skipping tourist hubs, this residential space has parks and walking paths that turn the streets into a canvas of summer colours.
- Al Khawaneej: The Yard, Quranic Park and farm-lined roads offer a nice respite with flame trees on the sides. You can take a peaceful stroll or a bike ride across the country-like neighbourhood.

Other locations include Safa Park, Al Khazzan Park and Zabeel Park. You might also spot a single tree here and there across the city. Just make sure you appreciate their beauty for the 3 months (May to July) they bloom in the City.
