One of our favourite things about Expo 2020 was the opportunity it served up to relish scrumptious food from around the world. From Instagrammable Polish ice cream to a pop-up outlet of London’s iconic bakery Beyond Bread. But the one outlet that ruled them all and stood out from the crowd was Adrift Burger Bar from Los Angeles. The pop-up burger joint sold an astonishing 115,000 burgers during its five-month session at Expo 2020’s Mobility Pavilion. And why wouldn’t it? Run by Michelin star-rated chef David Myers, Adrift’s burger was famously awarded the title of ‘perfect burger’ by The New York Times.
Now, the world’s most flawless burger recipe has returned to delight Dubai’s foodies at Rove Expo 2020 Hotel on popular demand. But like most good things, Adrift’s second innings in Dubai will be short-lived too. The pop-up burger station is only running for six weeks, so you’ve got only until December 11 to devour them. Get steppin’!
So why is Adrift Burger Bar such a big deal?
Besides the fact that one of the world’s most critical publications declared this burger recipe perfection and hundreds of thousands of Expo 2020 visitors gave this burger their money and appetite, including H.H Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai? This burger’s fame purely rests on its fabulous taste.
The juicy burgers are based on a recipe from Chef Myers’ childhood that proved to be a hit each time he included it in the menus of his restaurants, from LA to Tokyo. The explosive flavours then found a permanent home when he launched ADRIFT Burger Bar in LA’s Venice Beach neighbhourhood in 2020. And even during peak pandemic, the burger concept gained a rapid fanbase. Soon the hit concept appeared in Dubai in 2021 at Expo’s Mobility Pavilion.
Dubai hasn’t seen the last of Adrift Burger Bars
The Adrift pop-up outlet in Rove Expo 2020 Hotel’s lounge area promises to bowl diners over with the same delicious flavour as well as an Instagrammable ambiance that combines the chilled-out vibes of Venice Beach and the minimalism of Tokyo. Along with signature burgers such as the DM angus burger, you’ll also get to order shakes like miso caramel and sides with a twist such as the curry leaf fries.
But here’s the news that takes the biscuit (or buns in this case): after Rove Expo 2020 Hotel, Adrift will continue to pop up at various other Rove properties in Dubai. The details are being kept a secret for now but we’ll let you in on the info as soon as we know!
