Dubai’s many activities, events, hotels and beaches have shown to attract the highest amount of tourists within the Mena region in this year’s first quarter. Reasons for this sharp increase is in part attributed to the 23rd edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival and of course, sunny weather.
The city is also getting ready to host over 20 milion visitors at the upcoming World Expo in 2020 and is also already ahead of other major tourist cities in terms of average spend overnight/number of hotel keys per guest. To put into comparison, the runner up in this category is Paris – one of the most popular cities for tourists in the world.
The KPMG report of International Hospitality has found that further increases in tourism will result from several new attractions such as Dubai Parks and Resorts, The Louvre in Abu Dhabi, and current attractions under construction will all positively contribute to growth in tourism past 2020.
