Ever wonder how the windows at Burj Khalifa stay so shiny?

Heroes in everyday disguise?
Heroes in everyday disguise?
We all know the Burj Khalifa is one of the many wonders that can be found in Dubai, but how much do we really know about the upkeep?

You might have noticed those tiny dots when you look up at the Burj and wonder what on earth is going on, right? Well, some might not realise that taking care of a tower that stands 584.5m tall is quite the process. Those little dots you see are actually people being held up by harnesses in order to safely scale the building and keep those windows spotless! You’re probably thinking… window cleaners are the “heroes in disguise?” and the answer is, yes.

A video was posted to the Burj Khalifa Twitter account showing the procedure a window cleaner has to go through during this crazy job. Technically, the cleaning is restricted to four times a year, but with the amount of windows it takes a total of three months to get through one cleaning cycle… talk about intense! As you’ll see in the video below, the adrenaline cleaners climb to the top of the spire and then get lowered down with ropes to the ground floor. This process is repeated several times (other technicalities will be explained in the video). Do you think you have what it takes to take on such a dare-devil job?
