Ladies’ nights, ladies-only gyms and ladies’ compartments in the metro – Dubai has been a frontrunner in creating female-friendly spaces. Add a women-only beach to that list. Dubai Municipality has announced that a dedicated ladies’ beach is under construction as part of a huge redevelopment project.
The Al Mamzar Redevelopment Project will give the Al Mamzar Corniche and the surrounding beachfront area an AED 400 million facelift. One of its highlights is a public beach accessible only to women. This will be the first of its kind in the UAE and is part of a larger masterplan that aims to increase UAE’s beaches by 400% before 2040.
Women 0nly beach – more privacy and security
Privacy and security will be top priorities at this women’s beach which will feature amenities to guarantee this. The beach will be fenced and have a secure gated entrance. Besides, this ladies’ beach will also be equipped for night swimming and include a sports club, and children’s play area.
Futuristic AI-integrated beach
The Al Mamazar Corniche Beach will adopt innovative tech and smart services like AI-supported surveillance systems, drowning rescue technologies, crowd management tools, and smart luggage lockers. Public facilities such as toilets, changing rooms and showers will be designed to meet the needs of people of determination.
Walking, cycling and skateboarding areas
Spanning 12,500 square metres and covering a stretch of 80 metres of shoreline, this new public beach has big plans. There will be 1,000 metres of running, walking, and cycling paths that will connect Al Mamzar Corniche Beach and Al Mamzar Park.
You can also look forward to expanses of beautiful landscaped green spaces. This corniche beach park also has sights set on being a cultural hub – it will include a 5,000-square-metre area reserved for seasonal events and activities and a 2,000-square-metre skateboarding area.
When will the women-only beach at Al Mamzar Corniche be ready?
The first phase of this two-phase development project that began in June 2024 is currently at 45% completion. Covering 275,000 square metres, this phase will boast a 200-metre-long pedestrian floating bridge connecting both banks of the creek.
There’s a 300-metre-long night swimming beach that people of determination can access and a 5-kilometre walkway with running and cycling tracks to look forward to in this section of the beach.
Recreational facilities like barbecue areas and jet ski marinas, three children’s play areas, eight outdoor shower areas and 1,400 car parking spots will also be part of it. Al Mamzar Corniche Beach is scheduled to open by the end of 2025 and will surely make a splash.
