Who said dining outdoors in the Dubai summer is but a mirage? The Pods – Bluewaters Island’s brand-new eatery – is setting that misconception straight with it’s bubble-shaped private dining capsules.
Nestled amidst a lush botanical garden, the cluster of 22 air-conditioned glass domes, which opened their doors on May 1, allow diners to enjoy the sensation of being in nature without having to battle the dreaded Dubai humidity.
While the manicured jungle outside provides a respite from the concrete jungle, the elegant interiors will pamper occupants with high-end VIP treatment; sinking into cushy velvet sofas, playing your favourite tunes on a Bluetooth speaker system, and having dedicated service staff catering to each individual pod are just some of the things you can look forward too while chilling in your own little bubble.
Though we must point out that there’s nothing little about The Pods, even the smallest of which can comfortably seat six people and has an overall seating capacity of 168 people as a venue; VIP pods seat eight and the party pod seats 14.
Safe to say, The Pods are all about the social joys of dining in a group setting, so make sure you round up your gang before heading here.
There’s also a main indoor restaurant and bar area that can house up to 30 visitors and serves visitors popping by for just drinks and or dessert. It’s equally visually arresting — think canopies of overhanging foliage and strategically placed terrariums.
The venue has already been bubbling over on Instagram feeds across the country, with its picture-perfect décor and views, and since its debut, it’s also been capturing the imagination of foodies across town with an equally instagrammable menu that takes its Pan-Asian theme seriously.
Expect to tuck into Korean chicken bao, an assortment of Japanese sushi, nigri and maki, Indonesian bakmi goreng, Thai favourites such as pad Thai and green curry, and dimsums.
All that coupled with the stunning JBR beach views means these see-through globes are set to top the wishlist of Dubai’s glitterati for sit-down birthday dinners, grown-up anniversary soirees and everything in between.
Ps: Readers who are parents can heave a sigh of relief because despite the swanky fine-dining aesthetic, The Pods are child-friendly!
