If there’s an art form that can truly capture the enchanting world of fairytales, it has to be ballet. You can experience just that on January 6 and 7 at the Dubai Opera during the premiere of a brand-new ballet production called A Thousand Tales.
This one’s perfect for dance aficionados and bookworms – literary classics such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Aladdin have been transformed into an original narrative featuring routines by celebrated choreographer Francesco Ventriglia and music by contemporary composer Alexey Shor.
While Ventriligia is a famed alumnus of the reputed La Scala Ballet school in Milan and the co-founder of the Sydney Choreographic Centre, Alexey Shor is the Composer-In-Residence for the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. What that means for you as audience is a top-notch cultural experience complete with elaborate sets by award-winning set designer Roberta Guidi di Bagno and stunning costumes.
All of that combined is set to transport spectators to a dreamy storybook world full of fantasy. Principal dancers from Europe’s leading ballet companies will mesmerize you with their nimble moves; talented artists from the Spanish Compañía Nacional de Danza, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and National Ballet of Uruguay for the cast of A Thousand Tales.
Make it a ‘pointe’ to watch this performance for a dreamy escape from everyday life!
