Sunny with a chance of rain? That’s the dedicated weather forecast for one particular neighbourhood in Dubai– Al Warqa Park. For the next few days, dancing and and singin’ in the rain is possible at this public garden as it will be showered with artificial rain as part of Dubai Municipality and Ferjan Dubai’s ‘Rainy Summer’ event.
Before the back-to-school season kicks off, it’s a great way to enjoy some quality time with your kids and let loose together as a family. Residents of the Al Warqa neighbourhood can register for entry to the event.
Not just rain but snow too!
Running from August 23-27, the Rainy Summer event will see Al Warqa Park turn into a rain-kissed wonderland with tons of water activities. Artificial rain will drizzle at intervals across the park but so will snow! Well, soapy suds resembling snow in this case.
Temporary swimming pools and bouncy water slides will be installed to splash around. After you dry off look forward to a a lot of other sporting events and workshops. Kids will have the opportunity to learn to play African drums and participate in creative competitions.
Once all that outdoor fun under the rainy sun works up an appetite, you can hit up one of the wide ranges of food stalls set up by local cafes and restaurants such as Aggressive Burger and Churros Con Cafe.
Tailored rest tents will be scattered around the venue if instead of scampering around the park you prefer chilling indoors with kids and watching the rain.
Rainy Summer event runs from 4pm to 10pm on weekdays and until 11pm on weekends
